Media Bordercourses. On the Portrait in the Visual Art and Narrative Art of the Present Day

The various kinds of hybridization of portrait representation, and the forms of connecting text and image in the present day will be central to the paper. In this the artistic processes in the portrait-artwork and in narrative art will enter into an interdisciplinary dialogue with each other. The selection of the corpus to be investigated crosses national borders in order to bring to light, from a comparative perspective, the significant works with script-image syntheses in an overview of the whole. The paper will sound out which experimental operations of (de-)figuration are created in the interaction of image and script and how the two media of communication behave in specific cases.
