Heinrich Detering: Conversations with the dead. Bob Dylan’s late song poetryb Dylans späte Songpoesie

In his late work, Bob Dylan repeatedly conducts open or hidden dialogues with the most various texts and voices from the American song tradition and from world literature. In an interview he has spoken of how he tries to make the voices of the dead audible again by using the resources of song poetry. Taking one song as example, the talk will trace how Dylan does this. In the process, he is also introducing in outline a poetics of song that approaches no less than a hermeneutic of conversations with the dead.

Reception.

The lecture is public.
