Wilhelm von Humboldt in China: Receptions, studies, and problems
The receptions and studies of Wilhelm von Humboldt in China began only around 40 years ago, and have focused above all on his ideas on education and his philosophy of language. The talk will attempt to give an overview of the receptions and studies of Humboldt in China, and to identify possible problem areas, by analysing the 149 journal articles that could be found on Humboldt up to the end of 2016, against the background of the scattered Chinese translations of his works.
